Care & Maintenance Guide

Keeping Your Wooden Products Looking Their Best

Our handcrafted wooden products are made to last, but proper care will keep them looking beautiful and functioning well for years to come. Follow these simple care and maintenance tips to preserve the natural beauty of your wood items.

General Care

  • Avoid Excess Moisture: Wood is sensitive to moisture, so avoid exposing your product to water or humidity for prolonged periods. If it does get wet, wipe it dry immediately with a soft cloth.
  • Clean Gently: Use a dry or slightly damp cloth to remove dust and dirt. Avoid harsh chemicals, as they can strip the wood’s natural finish. A mild soap solution can be used if necessary, but dry the wood thoroughly afterward.
  • Eco-Friendly Cleaning: For a natural cleaning option, mix equal parts water and white vinegar or use a small amount of lemon oil on a soft cloth. These solutions help remove dirt while being gentle on the wood and environmentally friendly.
  • Keep Away from Extreme Heat: Avoid placing wooden trays or boxes near direct heat sources (like radiators or prolonged sun exposure), as this can cause warping or cracking.

Maintaining the Finish

  • Reapply Wood Oil: If your product starts looking dry or dull, you can apply a food-safe wood oil, mineral oil, or beeswax to restore its natural luster. Simply rub a small amount on with a clean cloth and let it soak in before wiping away any excess.
  • Polyurethane-Coated Areas: Some of our products feature a polyurethane finish on certain surfaces for added durability. To clean these areas, simply wipe with a damp cloth and avoid abrasive materials that could scratch the finish.
  • Professional Refinishing Available: If your case has lost its original shine, we offer a refinishing service to bring it back to life. Contact us, and we can arrange to have your product shipped back for a professional touch-up. We believe in building things to last!

Additional Tips for Long-Term Care

  • Pipes: Try to only keep them in your box if they are clean, as they can sometimes give off an odor if not.
  • Jars: Find jars that you like and that fit well in the box and reuse them. Preferably something darker or with a black top to keep the light out of the jar. We like to keep our jars in the back row of the box so they are easily accessible.
  • Breaking Down Product: When breaking down product, try to do so on the trays outside of the box. It will help keep your box clean.
  • Organizing Items: It is best to keep your most used items on the larger removable tray, so you don’t have to keep lifting it out to grab or look for items.
  • Placement: Pick a good spot for your box. It is better to leave it in one place and then use your trays to move around with. Also, try to find a spot that isn’t in sunlight for most of the day.
  • Wood Develops Character Over Time: With regular use, your wooden product may develop a natural patina, enhancing its unique beauty. This is a normal part of the aging process and adds to the charm and character of the piece.
  • Avoid Dropping or Heavy Impact: Wood can dent or chip if dropped or handled roughly.
  • Store in a Dry, Cool Place: If not in use for a long time, store your wooden product in a dry, cool area to prevent unnecessary exposure to humidity.
  • Engraved or Personalized Pieces: If your item has engraving or personalization, clean it with a soft brush or cloth to prevent dust buildup in the details.

By following these care tips, you can ensure your wooden product remains in top condition for years to come. If you have any questions about maintaining your item, feel free to reach out — we're happy to help!
